Job description

We are looking for one Experienced Data Analyst, to work at our client's office in Oporto.
Work policy: 1 month working in the office 5 days/week and then hybrid mode

What you will do: 

To be part of an international and diverse team who helps Global Markets Front Office to get to know their clients better and identify opportunities and trends thought what data can tell.
As a Data Analyst, you will play a vital role in our team. Working directly with one or more of the bank's business areas, you will provide valuable insights to drive business growth, understanding their needs, proposing and implementing data-driven solutions (analysis, visualization and automation). You will exercise a lot of problem identification and problem solving skills.
You will have the opportunity to take ownership of business essential analytical projects that involve retrieving, preparing and analyzing complex datasets using data/statistical models and best practices in data visualization for the reporting creation, with the goal to produce insights and automated tools that will guide strategic solutions.
You will move between technical and non-technical areas and should be able to communicate well with different types of professionals. It is very important to be able to clearly and concisely understand stakeholders’ needs and translate these to our technical team, as well as present the results of complex analysis to our stakeholders.
You must be prepared for routine changes, each day will be filled with new and excited challenges.


Main Tasks:

  • Design and maintain dashboards in Tableau;
  • Design data ingestion pipelines to gather data from various sources such as databases, APIs and files;
  • Design data processing pipelines to clean, filter and pre-process data for analysis;
  • Optimize data pipelines, framework code, cluster utilization and configuration to ensure the best performance from pipelines;
  • Design, maintain and enforce data governance and data catalogue;
  • Maintain a coherent documentation of the framework, cluster and projects;
  • Collaborate with data scientists, data analysts and stakeholders to elicit data requirements and deliver effective solutions;
  • Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders effectively;
  • Evaluate and recommend new tools, frameworks and techniques to improve our data engineering projects and platform;
  • Work in a continuous development framework with iterative deliveries, respecting deadlines and actively following tasks.


Requirements

Technical Skills:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field;
  • 3+ years of experience as a Data Analyst;
  • Strong proficiency in Python (proven experience developing data-related Python frameworks is a plus);
  • Knowledge on Apache Spark, Apache Hadoop, Airflow and Presto (proven experience is a plus); "
  • Proficiency in SQL queries and a good understanding of database architecture;
  • Experience creating data sources and dashboards on Data Visualization software like Tableau and PowerBI (as well as being able to perform exploratory analysis);"
  • Familiarity with in-house big data platforms;
  • Strong analytical skills to ensure data quality;
  • Good understanding of data modelling, data structures, data management and best practices;
  • Solid understanding of distributed computing principles and parallel processing;
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative and multi-cultural team environment;
  • Familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies.
  • Fluency in English
