Senior AI Engineer with Java

Job description

We are looking for a Senior AI Engineer with strong Java expertise to help design and build scalable AI-powered enterprise applications.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable, high-performance microservices using Java 17/21+ and Spring Boot.
  • Architect and implement autonomous AI agents using frameworks such as Spring AI or LangChain4j.
  • Build systems capable of multi-step reasoning, dynamic tool usage, and memory management.
  • Integrate commercial LLM solutions such as Azure Copilot into enterprise platforms through robust RESTful APIs.
  • Create, optimize, and version-control prompts to ensure deterministic, secure, and accurate AI outputs.
  • Implement enterprise-grade AI reliability mechanisms including guardrails, fallback strategies, observability tracing, and rate limiting.
  • Collaborate closely with application engineers, product managers, frontend teams, and data teams to deliver seamless AI-driven mobile and web experiences.
  • Produce clear technical documentation for APIs, architecture decisions, and developer guides.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 8 years of professional experience as a Java Developer and AI Engineer.
  • Strong experience with Java 17/21+ and Spring Boot.
  • Experience developing scalable microservices architectures.
  • Hands-on experience integrating Large Language Models (LLMs) into enterprise applications.
  • Knowledge of Spring AI, LangChain, LangChain4j, or similar orchestration frameworks.
  • Experience with prompt engineering, prompt optimization, and LLM fine-tuning.
  • Understanding of AI reliability concepts including observability, tracing, guardrails, and fallback mechanisms.
  • Strong REST API development experience.
  • Excellent technical writing and documentation skills.
  • Experience collaborating within Agile cross-functional teams.
  • Portuguese residency required.
  • Advanced English communication skills.
